How do I contact Cedar Veterinary Clinic?
You can reach us by calling 435-586-3400 or using our online Contact Us form. We are always happy to answer questions about appointments, veterinary services, your pet’s health and care, or what to expect during a visit. If your pet has an urgent medical concern, please call rather than relying on the online form so we can help determine the appropriate next step.
How do I become a client of Cedar Veterinary Clinic?
New clients can get started by calling 435-586-3400 or submitting an online Appointment Request. Our website currently advertises a New Client Special Offer for a nose-to-tail examination, with eligibility requirements and restrictions listed online. Because promotions can change, please review the current offer or contact our team before scheduling to confirm the details.
What pets do you treat?
We provide veterinary care for dogs, cats, and pocket pets at our Cedar City vet clinic. Different species have distinct nutritional, preventative, behavioral, and medical needs, so we always tailor our recommendations to the individual animal rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Because pocket pets have species-specific health, nutritional, and husbandry needs, we recommend discussing your pet’s species and individual needs with our team when scheduling.
Who will be caring for my pet?
Dr. Heather Johnson, our practice owner and veterinarian, graduated from Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She has particular interests in internal medicine, soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, client education, and preventative health care.

Sudden or concerning changes in your pet’s condition are a sign that your furry friend requires immediate veterinary attention. Contact us promptly if something seems seriously wrong. Warning signs can include:
- Collapse or fainting
- Known or suspected toxin ingestion
- Significant bleeding
- Seizures
- Breathing problems
- Bloating
- Lethargy

Services and Medical Care
What veterinary services do you offer?
Our Veterinary Services include wellness and vaccinations, allergies and veterinary dermatology, nutrition and weight management, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, behavioral counseling, critical care, ultrasound, echocardiography, microchipping, and nail trims.
We provide a broad range of services for the pets of Cedar City and Southern Utah, and are able to address routine preventative needs as well as illnesses, injuries, and other medical concerns.
Does Cedar Veterinary Clinic offer ultrasound and echocardiograms?
We offer Ultrasound & Echocardiogram services to evaluate your pet’s internal organs and heart health without invasive surgery. The two are similar in ways, but serve different purposes. Ultrasound provides detailed information about the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, gastrointestinal tract, bladder, kidney stones, tumors, and more. Echocardiography is focused on the heart. Specialist interpretation is part of our diagnostic process, so all ultrasound and echocardiogram images are read by board-certified radiologists.
Does my pet need professional dental care?
Professional Veterinary Dentistry helps prevent and treat oral disease that can cause pain and affect your pet’s health and quality of life. We provide dental examinations, cleanings, preventative dental care, and treatment for existing oral problems, including tooth extractions when needed. Bad breath, drooling, difficulty eating, pawing at the mouth, facial swelling, or loose, broken, or discolored teeth are reasons to schedule a dental evaluation.
Can you help pets with allergies and skin problems?
Our Allergies & Dermatology services help identify and manage conditions that cause itching, rashes, skin irritation, infection, and other uncomfortable symptoms. Depending on your pet’s condition, our veterinary team may use results from tests such as blood work, skin scrapings, biopsies, and/or other diagnostics to investigate the underlying problem. Finding the cause is important because similar skin symptoms can result from several different conditions.
Preventative Care and Ongoing Support
How does Fear Free veterinary care help my pet?
Our Fear Free approach reduces the fear, anxiety, and stress many pets experience before and during veterinary visits. We know that our patients would probably rather stay home, and that the unfamiliar scents, people, and environment can be distressing to them. That’s why we became the first Fear Free Certified animal clinic in Southern Utah.
Our Fear Free Certified team uses strategies such as gentle handling, reducing unnecessary time in the reception area, and creating more positive associations with veterinary care. We can also give families practical guidance for reducing stress at home, including helping cats become more comfortable with carriers and making car travel easier.
What preventative care does my pet need?
Regular wellness and vaccination visits help protect your pet’s health and identify changes before they become harder to manage. During wellness care, we perform a nose-to-tail examination and develop recommendations based on your pet’s age, species, lifestyle, health, and risk factors, which may include dog vaccinations, cat vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition, weight management, and routine needs such as nail trims. These visits also give us a valuable health history for comparison as your pet ages.
Does Cedar Veterinary Clinic offer preventative care plans?
Yes. Our Preventative Care Plans can help you plan for the costs of your pet’s ongoing veterinary wellness needs. It’s often easier to budget veterinary care when you have a plan.
Preventative care is most effective when it is based on the individual pet’s age, size, breed, lifestyle, medical history, and risk factors. We offer different packages, so you can choose the one that suits your needs.
Contact our team for more information about available plans, what they include, eligibility, and costs.
Do you provide care for senior and geriatric pets?
We do. Your pet’s care needs will change over time, and our strategy reflects that. We provide geriatric counseling and ongoing veterinary wellness care to help aging pets maintain comfort and quality of life as their needs change. Senior pets generally benefit from closer monitoring of weight, nutrition, mobility, dental health, behavior, organ function, and other age-related changes so we can recognize potential concerns earlier. We work with families to adjust each pet’s care plan as they move through their senior years.
Does Cedar Veterinary Clinic have a client referral program?
Yes. Our Care to Share program rewards existing clients who refer friends or family members who become new clients. If you refer someone to us and they become a client, you’ll both receive a $25 service credit. Please visit the Care to Share page for more information.
